BIOCONTACT - Surface monitoring device for cleaning validation of cleanrooms

In addition to aerobiocontamination monitoring, biocontamination monitoring of areas is now compulsory.

 

The ISO 14698-1 annex C & AFNOR NF V08-037 standard recommends that samplings be made with a constant contact force of 25 grams per square meter; in other words, for a 55 mm petri dish, a contact force of 600 grams during 10 seconds.

The BIOCONTACT applicator :

- The body and the piston rod of the device are made of white Delrin polyamide.
- a shock safe material resisting most detergents and disinfectant solutions, except solvents.
- Spring and fastenings are made of 316L stainless steel.
- Easy locking of a 55 mm petri dish with its lid on the free end of the piston rod.
- Complete protection of the agar medium during the setting without activating the electronic circuit.
- The electronic circuit integrated in the body allows to adjust, at the factory : :
- the application time of the agar medium on the surface to be monitored,
- the application time countdown thanks to leds installed inside BIOCONTACT.

 

Power is supplied by a lithium battery.

 

Contact force is limited to 600gr, regardless of the pressure exerted on the piston rod

 

A complete contact of the agar medium with the tested surface is obtained thanks to an optimum guidance of the piston; and whatever the meniscus height in relation to the dish.

 

Application time countdown is activated only when the applicator is in contact with the surface to be monitored. Monitoring battery charge level : Press the piston and release it. The leds must flash during 10 seconds. If the leds don’t light up or if flashing time in less than 10 seconds, return the applicator to our after-sales department. We will replace the batteries and string. We will confirm these operations releasing a calibration certificate. Monitoring contact force and application time : 1°- Lock a petri dish into place, without its lid, on the piston.
2°- Put the applicator in its operating position on a flat surface. Then, put a 600 gram weight on top of the body. The applicator body must be in contact with the surface on which it rests. The correct position is confirmed when the leds start flashing during 10 seconds.

 

If the leds don’t light up, return the applicator to our after-sales department. We will check and repair it. Operating the applicator : - Lock a petri dish into place, with its lid, on the piston.
- Remove the lid and apply the agar medium of the petri dish on the surface to be monitored.
- Press on the flange of the applicator body to put it in contact with the surface to be monitored. The application time countdown will be confirmed by the flashing leds..
- After 10 seconds of application, the applicator turns off and indicates that sampling is over.
- Put the applicator up and release the petri dish, after you have put the lid back on it, to protect the agar medium, applying a light pressure on the right side of the box (light swing).
- The applicator is now out of function. Maintenance : Cold cleaning only, spraying alcohol or a disinfecting solution without solvent. Dry with hot air.

EFFICIENCY

Pressure applied by the operator is transmitted to the piston rod via a calibrated spring working under compression and limiting the contact force to 600 grams, whatever the pressure applied by the operator on the applicator. Constant contact force of 25 grams per square meters on the whole agar medium.
